On Oct. 29 at 7:37 p.m. Brick patrol officers responded to the Wawa at 116 Brick Boulevard for a shoplifting call, according to Police Officer Victoria Finelli.

Officers were able to view surveillance footage of a male subject who leaned over the cashier counter and grabbed a large brown box and exited the store, she said.

The box contained a large amount of carton cigarettes with an estimated value of $3,500, Finelli said.

On Monday at 8 p.m., the suspect returned to the Wawa. At this time,  the Brick Township Street Crimes Unit (SCU) Detectives were able to identify the suspect, she said.

The suspect was identified as Robert Rizzotti from Toms River, Finelli said.

Robert left the Wawa prior to officers responding. With the assistance of Toms River patrol units the SCU located him at his residence in Toms River.

Further investigation led to the retrieval of the stolen items which led to Robert's arrest.

Robert was transported to Brick Township Police Headquarters and released on a summons for shoplifting.
